Johnny's Philosophy is simple - it takes the same amount of time to knit with a high quality natural fiber as it does with cheap yarn. So, why not knit with the best that you can afford?

Johnny is a self-admitted natural fiber snob.

While searching for yarn, Johnny does his best to use domestic fiber that is domestically spun and dyed.

In a perfect world this would be possible...unfortunately this just is not possible. But Johnny does his best to reach out only as far as needed to supply our yarns.

Traditionally the knitter buys a look - in the form of an individual pattern or a book of patterns - and attempts to duplicate the garment with knitter appointed yarn.

All yarns are individually selected for each project - based on style, technique and season. And all of Johnny's kits come with the highest quality yarn - from the highest quality fiber. The ultimate goal is to offer a lasting, wearable garment that you can be proud of.

The Johnny Skein Mission does not believe in one level of knitting. While Johnny wants to challenge you - the knitter - each knitter has to decide, how to knit and what to knit - based on their personality and economics.

Johnny's focus is to provide patterns and kits to all levels of knitting - as ideas evolve and inspiration takes over.

Most of the Johnny Skein patterns have an element of 'non-traditional' techniques and are written with this in mind. We strive to use clear and simple language because of this.

The Johnny Skein Mission intends to challenge the knitter towards a new way of knitting - dare to knit outside the box!

While Johnny's feelings may become temporarily bruised by the notification of errors, he does truly want this information to move forward.

And no one, repeat - NO ONE - is harder on him...than himself.
